New Hope is pleased to present its fifth
MIME WORKSHOP
under the direction of professional mime, Laurie Anslono.

This workshop is a UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS AGES 10 to 18. Nine weeks of training in the art of mime will culminate in a performance at New Hope’s Valentine Evening on Saturday, February 9, 2008. Students will train once a week for 90 minutes beginning the week of November 26.

Students new to mime will be given an introduction to basic mime technique; students who have worked with Laurie in previous New Hope Mime Workshops will continue to develop their mime skills. All students will discover the excitement of using mime as a tool for ministry and will have the opportunity to share their skills in a special performance at New Hope’s Valentine Evening in February. In the past, these performances have been both entertaining and powerfully moving. Since our Valentine Evening is an adult event, we will also present for the first time this year an OPEN DRESS REHEARSAL on Friday, February 8 for siblings and friends of the performers.

Our mime instructor, Laurie Anslono, has been studying the art of mime since 1994. She received her formal training through Mimeistry International in Kansas City, MO, The Blue Moon Theater of Boston under the direction of mime master Nelli Natcheve, and at Harvard University with internationally renowned mime legend, Marcel Marceau. As the founder and director of the “Expressions of Worship” mime company, Laurie uses this visually powerful art form to bring to life the word of God through creative movement.

JUNIOR MIME WORKSHOP (ages 10, 11, 12):  Wednesdays, 9:00 to 10:30AM, beginning November 28
SENIOR MIME WORKSHOP (ages 13 through 18):  Fridays, 8:00 to 9:30AM, beginning November 30.
