Course Description:

Developing effective public speaking techniques involves a wide subset of learning skills: memorization, critical thinking, anlaysis, logic, and discernment. Students also expand interpersonal skills, such as knowing how to listen effectively, "reading" their audience, and adapting to multiple perspectives. Most importantly, students grow in confidence as they learn to speak authoritatively and grow in their ability to "think on their feet." Whether presenting academic arguments, making a sales pitch, or giving an account for their faith that lies within them, students gain measurably from the challenges this course presents. Students will practice their developing public speaking skills before the tutor and other students.

Those who continue into Public Speaking II prepare to compete in the 2011 National Christian Forensics and Communications Association (NCFCA).
