Anyone driving a car, making iced tea, or buying sunglasses would do it better with an understanding of physics.
In this high school tutorial we will discover the nature of the physical world, how it works, and how to usefully predict its behavior. Topics will include motions of objects and their interactions, energy and heat and thermodynamics, waves and vibrations, light and its modifications, electrical currents, magnetism, and induction, among others. The organized thought process exercised in these studies is useful in gaining understanding of any complex topic.
In addition to home study and in-class tutorials and demonstrations, we will occasionally visit Gordon College to experience more extensive lab experiments. Development of lab procedures and writing lab reports will be integral parts of the student’s preparation for more advanced study.
Assessment of learning will consider tests, lab reports, and classroom observation.
