taught by Heather Warriner and Leah Easley

Mondays from April 5 to May 17; 90 minutes (each workshop) once a week

These workshops have been designed to complement each other, giving students the opportunity to combine their writing skills with drawing from nature. While students are welcome to register for just one, students who take both workshops will produce a Nature Journal featuring their own writings and drawings. Download the registration form and mail in today!

Nature Writing Component, 9 am - 10:30 am

With writing pads and good books as our tools, we will learn the art of writing from nature and reading about nature. The students will learn a variety of prose and poetry forms as well as read from nature writers such as Robert Frost, Shel Silverstein, and C.S. Lewis among others. This course will complement Heather Warriner’s “Nature Sketchbook Workshop,” as we will explore the same topics, but from a writing and reading perspective.
Cost: $65

Nature Sketchbook Component, 10:45 am - 12:15 pm

Spring is the perfect time to get back outside and explore the wonders of nature that occur all around us. Armed with sketchbooks and pencils, we will learn the art of sketching from nature, while developing the practice of keeping an on-going sketchbook. Trees, birds, and shells will be amongst our subjects. This course will complement Leah Easley’s “Nature Writing and Literature Workshop,” as we will explore the same topics, but from an art perspective.
Cost: $65 (students are expected to purchase their own sketchbooks)
