For just about as long as she can remember, Heather Warriner has surrounded herself with creativity. From her very first scribbles to the "trademark" caterpillars she included in every kindergarten masterpiece to her years of art classes and training, Heather's life has overflowed with art. After graduating from the University of Connecticut in 2001 with a Bachelor of Fine Art and a concentration in illustration, Heather worked as a substitute art teacher, as well as a preschool teacher. These experiences taught her the importance of creative experimentation at all ages. Her preschoolers reminded her daily of the joy that comes from creating without restrictions. A few years later, she took a position at Karen Rossi Studios, where she used her art skills in a professional art studio setting. Both her teaching and her studio experiences gave her an even stronger desire to share art with those around her.
As a new resident of the North Shore, she is living in Hamilton with her husband, Dan, who is attending Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Working with New Hope has been an exciting and fun way for Heather to return to her love of teaching. Her art tutorials will allow her to combine many of the artistic and creative elements she loves most. Students will gain a solid basis in drawing and observation skills while also learning the importance of experimentation and sketchbook studies. In addition to the year-long tutorials, Heather is excited about New Hope’s Mini-Tutorials in Art. These nine-week offerings allow for concentrated studies of specific topics and styles. It’s during these mini-tutorials that a great deal of creativity and discovery takes place, as students try new and different artistic techniques and mediums. Heather is thrilled to be part of the New Hope team, where she hopes to share her love of all things creative. |
