New Hope's twelve-week English Mini-tutorial at Grace Chapel in Lexington is off to a great start with a full roster of 12 students.
This is a shorter version of our tried and true New Hope English curriculum. Mr. Westrate is choosing key novels, stories and poems to inspire, engage and challenge these students, and will teach some basic strategies for reading great literature. The greater emphasis of the course will be on writing, however.
Students will gain the skills and confidence they need to write well in a variety of genres from expository/research papers to creative writing and poetry. Through the guided writing process, real-time skills in organization, creating a thesis statement, writing for an audience, and writing with a personal voice will emerge.
* This mini-tutorial is now full. Please call us at our office for more information on FALL 2010 offerings coming to YOUR area!
